“The excitement of hiking on foot and being among the wild animals of Africa charged Claire’s spirits as she embarked on her walking safari under the hot African sun. Her group of six walked in single file, with their guide, Gian, leading the way and a Tanzanian forest ranger bringing up the rear, both armed with rifles just in case, though thankfully, nothing ever got too close. Walking allowed them to observe herds of wildebeest, zebras, and cape buffalo, along with many smaller creatures, including a variety of colorful birds.
